PBG에서 일상적인 풍경에 주목하여 평범한 순간을 예술적인 시각으로 포착하고 해석하는 노보, 앤디 리멘터 2인전 'Still, Life'를 개최합니다. 노보와 앤디는 일상(life)와 정물(still life)을 소재로 단순하면서 과감한 화면 구성과 대담한 색채로 표현하는 작가들입니다. 이번 전시에서 노보는 오브제가 쌓인 트로피 형태로 화면을 구상한 작업을 선보입니다. 노보의 트로피 작업은 보는 이들에게 상을 받았을 때와 같은 칭찬, 위로를 전합니다. 한국에서 개인전과 브랜드 협업을 통해 이름을 알린 앤디 리멘터는 이번 전시를 위해 페인팅 작품과 리미티드 에디션을 새롭게 선보입니다. 작가들의 작품 세계관을 다층적으로 탐구할 수 있는 앤디 리멘터의 아카이브 아이템과 노보의 스튜디오 속 감각적이고 독특한 오브제들이 함께 전시될 예정입니다.

5층에는 노보, 6층에는 앤디의 작품이 전시되며, 두 개의 층에 걸쳐 진행되는 2인전을 통해 두 작가의 공통된 매력과 독자적인 아이덴티티를 확인할 수 있습니다. 각 작가가 자신만의 방식으로 표현한 일상, 정물을 PBG에서 확인해 보세요. 기간 l 2022. 9.2(금) - 9.21(수)

NOVO, VISUAL ARTIST

Novo는 설치, 회화, 퍼포먼스 등 여러 장르를 아우르며 작가의 개인적인 경험에 관한 이야기들을 재치 있게 풀어낸다. 밝고 희망적인 에너지가 가득한 그의 작품은 어렸을 때 그렸던 그림이나 낙서와 같이 즐거웠던 일상에서 새로운 의미를 발견하는 것부터 시작하고 이를 통해 파생된 감정들이 솔직하게 드러난다.

Novo의 작품은 평면과 입체를 넘나들고 있지만 대부분 명료하고 정직하고 용감하다. 그의 작업이 가까이에 있는 사물들을 관찰하고 재해석하거나 텍스트를 이미지화 하여 작업 요소로 활용하기 때문이다. 결과물에 도달하기 전 좋아하는 사람들과 나누는 수 많은 대화도 모티브가 되어 작품을 지속적으로 생성, 유지하는 원동력으로 기능한다. 작가는 이 과정을 반복하면서 삶을 캔버스로 바꾸고 꾸준히 시각적 일기를 써내려 가고 있다.

한 가지 스타일이나 카테고리에 안주하지 않으며 무용 공연의 무대 미술, 브랜드와의 협업 등을 통해 기존의 아이디어에 도전하며 작품을 마주하는 이들에게 다양한 대화를 시도하며 발전하고 있다.

Novo works across various mediums from installation, painting, drawing and more recreating stories of his personal experiences in a conceptual and witty manner. His work is full of bright and hopeful energy. He starts from finding new meanings in the joyful daily experiences like that of his childhood drawings and doodles. His works show his honest emotions spanning from these experiences.

Novo’s work combines both flat and three dimensional works and they are mostly honest and bold. Using a free form method like repetitive text work, observing and reinterpreting objects that are close by, he transforms his life into a canvas continuously recording them as a visual journal. As he creates his work based on his personal experiences, his conversations in life become the motivation for him to consistently create and sustain his creations. He does not comply to one style or category but rather he expands by collaborating with dance performances, stage art and brand collaborations, and challenges his own existing ideas and attempts to develop various conversations with the audiences.
